Question

How can I proactively deal with PC/Mobile virus threats?

Answer

The most efficient solution for keeping up-to-date against malware is to keep updated with both operating system and machine updates.

MacOS:

Ensure that you are updated to the most recent version of MacOS that your machine can support. Updates are usually provided for the latest 2-3 versions of MacOS by Apple. For full details, visit the following:

Windows:

Ensure that Windows Update is set to run automatically.

In addition, do not use third-party anti-malware software. Please utilize Windows Defender, Microsoft's built-in security solution.

iOS:

Ensure that you allow automatic updates to iOS, and ensure that the "Installing Apps" restrictions is enabled in Settings --> General --> Restrictions.

Android:

Ensure that you allow automatic Android updates. Avoid downloading third-party *.apk files or using custom ROMs. Never enable the installation of third-party applications in Settings --> Apps & notifications --> Advanced --> Special app access --> Install unknown apps.
